Worship & Media Director

Job Summary:

The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, preparing for, and leading authentic worship proclaiming the uncompromised message of the Gospel. The position serves as an armor bearer to Senior Pastor – Grant Thigpen and central to the mission of New Hope Ministries. This position is also responsible for the technical operations, including audio, media/video, staging, lighting, and visual arts. The position provides leadership and developmental training for staff and ministry partners utilizing technical production tools. It supports all services, social media, internet-based communications, print media communications and other ministries through the design and development of video, digital motion and other communications. Directs the technical aspects of all services and other events, oversees and equips ministry partners, documents live events and provides preventative maintenance for equipment. This position reports to the Church Administrator and Senior Pastor and works in harmony with all ministry partners to fulfill the mission of New Hope Ministries.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WORSHIP

  • Lead the congregation in worship and direct the flow and elements of the service
  • Develop a weekly order of service in coordination with the Senior Pastor and communicate it in advance to the members of the choir, band and media team.
  • Direct a weekly rehearsal with the choir, band and media teams that prepare for a quality services and develops new music to be introduced to the congregation in future services.
  • Ensure that the stage set-ups, lighting, sound system, video systems, and worship presentation software are working properly and ready for services
  • Build the worship presentation on ProPresenter for each week’s service. This includes such things as announcement graphics, countdown videos, and song slides.
  • Oversee the design/decoration of the stage to keep it fresh, orderly, and connecting with the current season or emphasis of the church
  • Recruit and/or develop new musicians, singers, and tech team members to carry out the vision of the service and prepare for future needs
  • Manage annual budget for Worship Arts and Media departments as directed by the Church Administrator
  • Follow the financial guidelines (SOP) for all departmental purchases in communication with the Church Accountant
  • Make connections with members of the congregation beyond the worship stage, while supporting the vision, mission and pastors of the church
  • Initiate and manage nights of worship, holiday productions and event outreaches
  • Build connections with B12 Kids department and Breakthrough youth department worship groups and choirs

  

MEDIA

Video Production

  • Produce pre, live, and post productions for Sunday services, midweek services, special events and AV productions
  • Direct and produce weekly videos for services and online content. This can be, but is not limited to: video announcements, service | event highlights, ministry spotlights, outreach, etc.
  • Advise on keeping video production equipment and processes up to date and maintaining production quality.
  • Archive footage to media storage.
  • Edit footage in postproduction, including adding slides, verses, lyrics, audio, and video buffers.
  • Rendering footage to upload online to archives and live stream providers.
  • Manage media department.
  • Teach, train, and give managerial support.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for audio, video, front of house media.
  • Optimize effectiveness and quality control.
  • Coordinate media campaigns with staff and teams.
  • Uploading weekly podcasts.
  • Research and propose purchasing of AV needs. Submissions will go the Church Administrator.
  • Stage design, construction, and implementation for Sunday and Midweek productions.

Online Content

Live Stream

  • Maintain live stream hosting service and schedule weekly live streams. These will be on website, Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo.
  • Oversee quality control and moderation of comments on all platforms.
  • Create live stream slides/lyrics/announcements.
  • Collaborate with Media team on cameras and audio for live stream.
  • Stay up to date on technology updates for live stream services.

YouTube Channel / Vimeo

  • Upload weekly services day of.
  • Create and upload descriptions.
  • Create Thumbnails day of service.
  • Organize playlists and videos as directed by leadership.

Pro Presenter

  • Set up and create slides for Sundays.
  • Prepare song lyrics.
  • Convert Pastor’s notes into service slides.
  • Create and update announcements and videos.

 

ABILITIES

  • Ability to provide Spirit-led worship experience
  • Skilled in vocal and instrumental direction
  • Can proficiently play an instrument in the worship band (ex: guitar, keyboard)
  • Quality singing voice and engaging stage presence
  • Experienced with the use of technology in worship such as lighting, worship software, sound systems, video projection, etc.
  • Team player with good relational skills and a positive attitude
  • Self-starter who strives for excellence

 

ADDITIONAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Coordinate media support for event center
  • Facilitate any ministry request made by the Senior Pastor or Church Administrator that move the mission and vision of the church forward.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above – Music Arts, Theology, or similar degree from a University, Bible School or Accredited Music School
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in areas of ministry or similar to those above
  • Experience in church with membership of 500 and above
  • Computer skill – working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Technologies including Social Media

Sous Chef

Job Summary:

The New Hope Ministries Sous Chef is responsible for planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen. The Sous Chef’s tasks and responsibilities are diversified and vary from cooking or plating certain dishes to establishing menus and communicating with the foodservice providers. Therefore, the position requires both culinary and time management skills. A Sous Chef must be able to follow instructions in methods of preparation, cooking, plate presentation, portion and cost control and sanitation and cleanliness as is necessary for the efficient and effective operation of a commercial kitchen and dining area. The Sous Chef functions to support the Executive Chef in the fulfillment of the overall vision and mission of New Hope Ministries.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Address all culinary needs as they arise in the weekly and seasonal flow of ministry activities.
  • Prepare and cook menu items for fellowship and other events as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, organized and efficient environment in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure all operations function in accordance with Florida Department of Health standards and established best practices.
  • Provide back-up to the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation and production whenever needed.
  • Maintain order, discipline and a healthy work environment in the kitchen.
  • Produce high-quality dishes that follow the established menu standards.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff.
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned Maintain a log of all refrigeration temperatures and report all mechanical problems.
  • Maintain and service all necessary kitchen equipment and supplies. Make recommendations to the Executive Chef regarding equipment needs or replacements.
  • Follow and assign Established Closing Duties
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Executive Chef

 

 ADDITIONAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Food Pantry management – Stock receiving and rotation.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school or GED equivalent required, formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years cooking experience in a fine dining environment and experience in a culinary leadership role preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with kitchen staff, church staff, volunteers and guests.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification
  • Ability to bend, stand, and stoop for long periods of time, and working long hours in hot conditions.
  • Must have experience calculating figures and amounts and performing mathematical functions to meet business needs.
